A History of Making Windows
The Harry G Barr Building Specialties was the original name of the one-man operation that came into being during the waning days of the depression. Founded in 1934, our primary customers were the general contractors of public buildings financed under the Public Works Administration and the Works Progress Administration. As time went on, our product mix changed to lend itself more to the residential segment of construction.
It has always been our goal to provide the most innovative products for your home. Our product line has evolved a great deal since we opened our doors. In 1960, we were the first in our region to begin fabricating storm windows for better insulation of your home. In 1984, we again were the first to introduce vinyl replacement windows in our market. In 1989, recognizing the potential that vinyl windows held for the new construction market, we pioneered a vinyl single hung window so that homebuilders had an affordable, energy-efficient option to using aluminum windows in their new homes.
Our product line continues to evolve today. We are continually studying new technologies to determine what we can do to bring even more value to homeowners. Our product line is among the most complete offerings in the industry, including single and double hung windows, casements, awnings, sliding and hinged doors.
For over 70 years WeatherBarr has provided the highest quality building materials available. A product is only as good as the quality of the company that stands behind it. Since 1934, WeatherBarr has proudly stood behind every product it has produced. Opened as a family business, the high ideals and strong business ethics that helped grow the company continue today through the third generation of family ownership and management.
When you select WeatherBarr windows and doors for your home you can rest assured that you are investing in products that are built not only for your present needs but for your future as well.
